Starting over a decade ago, this “unhinged” arts festival made its debut in YYC with a goal of creating a sense of community and tolerance and a place for creation without restriction where all participating artists could express themselves freely.

Today, you could say that the Calgary Fringe Festival has accomplished this; it is a culturally open 9-day event with more than 160 performances, most of which are in the downtown area.

If you love theatre, chances are you will love the Calgary Fringe Festival and the unique selection of entertainment it brings to the city.

Calgary’s largest outdoor food and drink festival is just a few days away! There is no better way to get a taste of all the different cultural cuisines – both local and global – from restaurant and beverage companies in YYC than at the annual Taste of Calgary foodie festival.

Plus, enjoy a variety of live entertainment as well as artisans, entrepreneurs, and interactive activities that add another element to the festival than just food and drink.

Located downtown in parking lot #6 on Eau Claire’s western border, the festival is easy to reach via RiverWalk on the south embankment of the Bow River.

Marda Gras Street Festival

The Marda Loop Community is gearing up for its annual Marda Gras Street Festival, a celebration in the fashion of Mardi Gras held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Located in the popular business revitalization zone of the southwest, visitors will have the opportunity to explore countless restaurants, shops and services including food trucks and pop-up retail/food stands along 33rd Avenue SW and between 19th and 22nd Street SW.

Street buskers are just one form of lively entertainment at this top-five August festival in Calgary! Also enjoy a wide range of buskers and family-friendly activities great for all ages!

The most explosive festival of the year is coming soon to Elliston Park in southeast Calgary.

A cultural celebration of epic proportions, GlobalFest showcases YYC’s cultural diversity and artistic excellence through nightly fireworks synced to music originating from different world nations. These are the most extravagant fireworks shows you will see in Calgary year-round, with epic sky displays that last for several minutes.

Live cultural performances and food stands serving cuisines from all over the world complement a large night market featuring vendors with quality keepsakes and handcrafted art.
