    Best Patios in Downtown Calgary

Home to the West End, Commercial Core, and East Village, downtown has many exceptional patios, though not quite as many as in the Beltline (more below).

    #1 – The Wilde on 27

    • Address – 525 5th Avenue SW

The open-air patio and floor-to-ceiling views deliver a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the city skyline, making it one of the most visually stunning places to enjoy a summer evening in YYC.

Beyond the views, The Wilde on 27 is an award-winning restaurant meant to impress upscale diners. The menu celebrates locally sourced Alberta ingredients with seasonally inspired dishes, while the handcrafted cocktail program is as creative as it gets. The Rooftop YYC is a premier patio destination in Calgary, located on a rooftop in the downtown business core. During the summer, this massive venue’s greenhouse-like roof lets in ample sunlight, making it a wonderful summer experience. Known for its top-quality burgers and pizza, extensive draft beer and wine selection, and handcrafted cocktails, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a night out in downtown. Happy hour specials add to the appeal, from 2-5 pm daily.

With a focus on exceptional service and a vibrant, fun atmosphere, The Rooftop stands out as a must-visit patio. Reservations usually aren’t needed because of how massive this venue is. It is Calgary’s largest climate-controlled rooftop patio, and is a must-visit, especially during the Stampede.

    #3 – Connie & John’s Rooftop

    • Address – 618 Confluence Way SW
    • Phone – 403-452-3115

Connie & John’s Rooftop Bar at the Simmons building in the condo community of East Village is an excellent spot to enjoy the summer heat. Lounge around on comfortable outdoor pub-style seating with umbrella shades and heat lamps for nighttime. Overlooking the Bow River and pathways, it is the ideal rooftop patio for a romantic night out with your significant other and a good stop-in for larger parties between other activities in the area.

Serving up gourmet pub food, we especially love the hot wings and the pizzas. The Rooftop Bar also has an impressive list of cocktails, beer, and wine to boot. If you’re lucky, you may catch a live music event during the Stampede or another time during the summer. Connie & John’s isn’t open until May 21st, 2026, and usually shuts down by September every year, just a heads up!

If you love downtown rooftops, then Modern Steak’s urban patio is for you! We love this patio for its sunny vibes, comfortable booth seats, and views of the downtown core if you’re lucky enough to get a good spot.

Well known as one of the best Calgary patio restaurants, space is limited at Modern Steak’s rooftop, so you’ll want to get a seat during non-peak times. On weekends, this rooftop is one of the most hype around. Reservations are highly recommended for this top-notch steak restaurant!

Sitting in the shadow of the Calgary Tower at the downtown Marriott Hotel, One-18 Empire is home to one of the most coveted outdoor spaces in the city – the OneUp Patio. This sprawling downtown patio pairs Calgary’s iconic skyline with curated menus, customizable seating, and a buzzing atmosphere, making it equally at home for a casual summer evening or a full-blown special event.

The scale alone sets it apart – the OneUp Patio can accommodate anywhere from 50 to 400 guests, making it one of the largest event-ready outdoor spaces in YYC. But it’s not just a pretty venue, as the food and drink are the real draw. One-18 Empire is a whiskey bar and restaurant rooted in locally inspired Alberta cuisine, with a menu that leans into premium ingredients like bison brisket, Haskap berry, and Taber corn. Come summer, the patio comes alive with Sunday Sessions featuring live DJs, BBQ menus, slushy cocktails, and lawn games, plus themed nights and the occasional Latin or hip hop set to keep things interesting.

Housed in a beautifully restored 1905 heritage building in the heart of East Village, the King Eddy is one of Calgary’s most characterful rooftop patio spots. The outdoor space perfectly mirrors the venue’s soul – relaxed, unpretentious, and always buzzing with live music spilling out from inside.

Part restaurant, part bar, and part live music venue (it’s connected to the National Music Centre), the King Eddy pairs comfort food classics and local craft beers with a patio experience that feels genuinely rooted in Calgary’s history. Open Wednesday through Sunday, it’s a great East Village anchor for a laid-back afternoon pint or an evening out with live tunes on the horizon.

LuLu Bar is one of the newest restaurants on 17th Avenue, with one of the best patios in Calgary, featuring a spacious seating section in an L shape running around the restaurant’s perimeter. They also have a frame around the patio to create a complete enclosure that opens during the summer.

We enjoyed this patio’s atmosphere with its open, airy feel and comfortable, spacious seating arrangement. The interior was also well designed for spring and summer weather – almost like a half patio – with sliding doors that create an open and wall-less interior that walks right out onto the patio. Indulge in Asian / Pacific-style cuisine on this summer patio and enjoy browsing an extensive drink menu of beers, wines and alcohols.

Just a few storefronts down from Lulu is One Night Stan’s, a youthful, vibrant and eclectic bar with one of the best patios in Calgary for people-watching. If you’re lucky enough to get a seat on the patio, aim high – as in literally, as there are elevated patio stools facing onto 17th Avenue SW that make enjoying the sights of one of Calgary’s busiest streetscapes a breeze.

Inside One Night Stan’s, you’ll find a pub-like atmosphere with relatively limited seating capacity compared to other larger venues. Therefore, you’ll want to arrive early and get a table for the crew before peak times, especially on weekends.

Craft Beer Market’s rooftop patio is out of this world. Featuring a central roofed bar on the east and a more sunny sitting area to the west, this eclectic and modern rooftop is now one of the best patios in Calgary, hands down.

The food is excellent and so is the service; it’s a great place to meet and greet friendly Calgarians. While expansive, expect to wait for a seat during peak hours. Arrive early if you want a rooftop spot in the summer, although relegation to the spacious, comfy interior area below isn’t so bad either.
