Calgary Hidden Gems: Yamato Bakery on Centre St.

When it comes to buying gourmet desserts like mousse cake and cheesecake in store, Yamato Bakery on Centre Street North is one of the best.

We recently made a stop into this Calgary hidden gem to pick up a birthday cake for a friend, and after tasting it at the party afterwards, we were left with Yamato’s name permanently imprinted on our mind.

When searching for Yamato Bakery we had to rely on Google Maps. There wasn’t any large sign on the street in front of the strip mall where it’s located at, nor was the business easy to spot from the corner of 13th Avenue and Centre Street North.

If you do know the general location of this hidden gems strip mall however, it makes it easy. For those of you who don’t know or may find Google Maps confusing at times (I know I do), It’s located between 12th Avenue NE and 13th Avenue NE on Centre Street North. See below:

Mousse & Cheesecake

Yamato Bakery offers pick-up and delivery for several different kinds of mousse and cheesecakes. For Mousse Cake, choose from the following flavours:

Every cake at this Calgary hidden gem comes in three different sizes and are priced accordingly. They include:

• 1 lb. – for 6 to 8 people – $27.00
• 2 lb. – for 9 to 12 people – $39.00
• 3 lb. – for 13 to 16 people – $49.50

We tried the Mango Mousse cake. Infused with rich mango flavour, this mousse cake had everyone at the party smiling from ear to ear. It was actually so good that it was gone before we thought about taking a picture of it!!

Slices, Pastries & Coffee

Yamato Bakery also offers a selection of French pastries, coffee and slices of their famous cheese and mousse cakes to order in the store.

With a bunch of good restaurants located along Centre Street North and the Trans Canada Highway nearby, this hidden gem might just be the perfect place to stop in at for a slice of your favourite cake afterwards!
