Two Condo Towers to be Included in Currie Barracks Project

Developers have now submitted plans to the city for the first phase of Currie Barracks new and exciting mixed-use development! This part of the project has been dubbed the “core” as it will be home to approximately 130,000 square feet of commercial space and two residential condominium towers with several hundred units between them.

The collection of mid-rise towers and terrace buildings is aimed to create a unique living and shopping experience - an in-community amenity resource if you will - which will help to attract more people to the area during future stages of development.

Exact details of the developers application includes:

One 18 storey condominium tower

One 30 storey condominium tower

Five midrise commercial towers between 3 to 8 storeys

These projects will complete the first phase of development and are expected to take more than a decade to finish.

Embassy Bosa Keen on Currie Barracks

One residential developer involved is Embassy Bosa Inc., a company known locally for its involvement in East Village through its multi-phase new condominium project called Evolution and its most recently announced for the area called Arris. The Royal is another currently underway new condo in Calgary by Bosa found across from Mount Royal Village at 16th Avenue and 9th Street SW.

Now the Vancouver-based company has its eyes set on Currie Barracks with a 15-year plan that includes more than 2,500 units spread across 22 acres of land. But for now, however, the initial plan is to get the first phase condo towers approved.

According to the Embassy Bosa the application process takes about a year to complete which sets the beginning of construction in 2017.

Once all phases are completed about 11,000 people will call Currie Barracks home. In addition, approximately 5,700 residential units will be found in the area ranging from condos and townhomes to attached and detached properties.
