First Canadian Centre East Tower Coming Soon

Downtown Calgary's First Canadian Centre is Expanding

First Canadian Centre East Tower Downtown CalgaryDowntown Calgary will soon be home to yet another new skyscraper. This time it’s First Canadian Centre, an already existing building located between 2nd and 3rd Street on the 7th Avenue SW block, which will have an additional tower built on the eastern side of its property.

The First Canadian Centre West Tower was designed by Bregman + Hamann Architects and was finished more than 30 years ago in 1982.

Original intentions were to have a two-tower development connected by a three-storey hall, but a downturn in the local economy halted plans for a second building. The two levels of foundations and underground parking that were built for the second tower remain covered by a landscape cap to this day.

GWL Realty Advisors hopes to have construction underway within a year and have it built by 2017 if all their pre-leasing goals are met. See more on the downtown skyline at our Calgary Skyline History today.
