1. Tell Your Family, Friends and Service Companies
While your friends and family are likely the first to know about a move, it’s also key that you let your service providers know as soon as possible. Consider contacting them several weeks before your moving date so you can schedule termination deadlines, new installations, a forwarding address and anything else that needs to be taken care of.

3. Collect Important Documents
Moving can get ugly if you don’t have all your important documents packed properly and know where they are at all times. Consider putting aside a folder of all documents like passports, medical and school records, bank records, wills, legal documents, insurance policies, account information, resumes and letter of recommendations, computer hard drives, credit cards, membership cards, tax returns and any other important documentation you will need!

5. Pack an Overnight Bag
Before you begin organizing your things into boxes, put aside a travel bag of stuff you will need for the first night. Prescriptions, toiletries, blankets, pillows, cleaning supplies and some snacks is a good start.
6. Remember to Properly Label Your Boxes
Always remember to properly label your moving boxes! The last thing you want to do is to put the wrong boxes on the wrong floors and make more work for yourself. Also keep in mind to label fragile boxes so you or your moving company can pack them properly and prevent any damage during the moving process!
