Quarry Park Child Development Centre: Another Reason to Move to the Neighbourhood
You’ve probably heard about something to do with Quarry Park over the past few years – one of Calgary’s most anticipated and desirable communities – whether that was in the news, on TV or from a magazine add.
Maybe it was the brand new YMCA Recreational Centre that caught your attention or perhaps your company was moving its headquarters to the area and living close by would have been convenient. Whatever the situation, there is now yet even another reason for us all to consider a move to Quarry Park.
The Quarry Park Child Development Centre, an initiative by the community developer Remington Corp, is a new project to be operated by the YMCA, offering daycare options to the entire neighbourhood.
It is the perfect addition for residents and workers both who will have the opportunity to leave their children in a safe, stimulating and educational environment while going about their daily business.
The centre will be only a short walk away from the already under-construction YMCA Recreational Centre mentioned above and will be just as close for those living and / or working in the neighbourhood. Here’s more:
- Estimated completion / opening in 2016
- State-of-the-art childcare facility
- Capacity of 350 or so children aged one to six years
- On-site kitchen to provide nutritional snacks / lunches
- Additional kitchen to help teach kids about the importance of nutrition
Playing to Learn by YMCA
The YMCA is one of Canada’s largest child care providers. One of their most successful programs is the tried, tested and true “Playing to Learn” curriculum which provides children with basic learning of arts, language, literacy, math, science and technology.
It all adds up to one very stimulating daycare experience for children in an environment where it’s not odd for them to leave for the day not with just what they have learned, but with a handful of new friends as well.
Since the YMCA will be the operator of both the child development centre and the new recreational centre, parents and children alike will have access to the amenities provided by the latter such as the swimming pool, fitness centre, gymnasium and public library.
The Quarry Park Child Development Centre is a spectacular addition to an already impressive list of in-community amenities which makes the neighbourhood one of the most desirable in the southeast quadrant.
About 6,000 people currently live in Quarry Park, while another 600 employees from Imperial Oil will move into their new headquarters sometime in April. See more at Quarry Park Calgary – Live, Work, Play.
