Calgaryism's WURST Restaurant Review... the BEST!

I don’t know how I haven’t made a restaurant review for WURST yet; it’s been one of my favourite mission food and drink restaurants for quite some time.WURST logo interior Calgary restaurant food

Having said that, whether you are in for some gourmet pub-style food or just want to try one of the special beers on tap - this place has got you covered. Oh, and on weekends the basement section turns into one of the liveliest places in Mission! Back to the review…

Atmosphere & Service

WURST basically has two kinds of seating areas: the first is the top section which you are embraced by as you walk into the restaurant. This section is more of a fine-dining area with proper booths and tables, while the basement offers more of pub-style seating with bar stools (also up top) and long wooden tables.

When it comes to service, I can honestly say that I’ve never had an issue with such at WURST. The bartenders and waiters / waitresses are one of the reasons why people keep coming back to this place for more food and drink; they make eating and drinking here as convenient and stress-free as dining gets.

My OrderWURST chicken sandwich mission Calgary

I’ve had many things on WURST’s menu, and they have all been quite delicious.

I like the traditional German cuisines that they offer such as the Franzels Mixed Grill (variety of Germanic food like sausages, pretzel dumplings, cabbage and more), but this time around I stuck with more of a pub selection because I haven’t tried it just yet:

Grilled chicken sandwich - $16.00 – red pepper jelly, sliced apple, French brie, toasted ciabatta

What was wonderful about this sandwich was that the chicken was grilled to perfection – not too dry or burnt in any fashion – while the red pepper jelly and sliced apple really gave it a fresh and fruity feel I haven’t experienced on a chicken sandwich before in YYC.

I ended up getting the potato leek soup as a side instead of salad or fries. I figured it would make a good dip for my delicious chicken sandwich – and I was right. I recommend trying this one-two combo the next time you dip into WURST for one of the worst, I mean best chicken sandwiches in the city!

Also don’t forget to look at this places extensive list of beers, lagers and all other sorts of drinks from around the world as its variety it offers is one of its claims to fame! There's a reason why WURST is also one of the Best Calgary Beer Halls!
