3 Must-Try Calgary French Restaurants... They Are So Good!
Do you have a knack for French cuisine or just love trying something new? If so, you will be delighted when you visit any one of these three French restaurants in Calgary!
From steak tartare (raw beef) and magret de canard (rarely-cooked duck) to cheese soufflé (cheese "breathe") and soupe a l’oignon (onion soup), you’ll definitely find some of the dishes you already love and discover some new French culinary treasures along the way. Make a reservation today!
Avec Bistro
- Address – 105, 550 11th Avenue SW
- Phone Number – 587-352-0964
Located in the beltline, Avec Bistro serves up your typical, but delicious French-bistro fare some of you might already be familiar with, like steak frites, for example.
If you’re a beef lover, I highly recommend trying this dish, consisting of meltingly tender sirloin slices accompanied by perfectly cooked fries and a light béarnaise sauce to top it all off. Try adding sautéed mushrooms or the recommended cheese if you want to add that extra punch to the dish, although none is needed.
Cassis Bistro
- Address – 2505 17th Avenue SW
- Phone Number – 403-262-0036
Cassis Bistro truly is a little piece of France in Calgary that goes above and beyond to make you feel like you’re dining in full French-style.
Inside you’ll find French country-side décor and experience the smell of staple cultural dishes like the “veal blanquette” (my order) wafting through the air as you wait. How good was the veal? Let’s just say that even the strongest atheist will believe in the one all mighty creator after trying it for themselves.
Being greeted by French-speaking waiters / waitresses as you walk in also adds that extra element to the whole French dining experience, another must try establishment if you haven’t been just yet!
Corbeaux Bakehouse
- Address – 730, 17th Avenue SW
- Phone Number - 403-474-9214
In the mood for a quick grab-n’-go coffee, perhaps a French pastry or gourmet sandwich? Maybe you’d like to enjoy the sights and sounds of 17th Avenue SW, or just your friends company over some freshly baked goods done “Old World” style? If so, put the recently established, French-inspired Corbeaux Bakehouse on your list of café’s to check out.
For only $15.00, the “grand tour” breakfast option gives you a taste of all the delicious pastries this Euro-style café has to offer. This IS the new café hangout on the Red Mile, check it out!
