Belmont Diner Calgary Restaurant Review

Belmont Diner has become a very popular breakfast and brunch spot in the inner city business district of Marda Loop. This family run restaurant has upheld its reputation as one of the best breakfast and brunch restaurants in town through consistency. For more than a decade Belmont Diner has had one of the same main chefs (an owner) who puts the same effort into each and every dish he prepares, who has also stringently taught a few other house cooks to do it all the exactly the same way he does.

Regardless of who’s working at Belmont Diner, expect the same top notch quality of scrumptious food every time you go. Be prepared to wait for a seat, especially on weekends, where the line can be back up and down around the corner of the strip mall in Marda Loop!

The Food

This time around I chose to share two breakfast plates between a friend and me. One was the original eggs Benedict – poached eggs with bacon instead of ham on a croissant, topped with hollandaise sauce and served with French toast as substitute for hash browns. These are one of the best eggs Benedict in Calgary and are to die for! A perfect blend of grilled croissant, sweet hollandaise and of course, yummy egg done the way you like it.

And the other, an omelette with my choice of toppings including cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, banana peppers and sides of salsa and sour cream to top it all off with endless hash browns and endless toast. When Belmont Diner claims they have the best omelette in Calgary, they aren’t kidding! This omelette was tasty to say the least, and adding salsa and sour cream to each bite made it that much more enjoyable. A must try, and for fifteen dollars no matter what fillings you choose, it’s one of the best deals around.

If you are looking for one of the best breakfast and brunch spots in the southwest inner city region of Calgary, then head down to Belmont Diner and give it a try. This place is so good, chances are there will be a line no matter what day of the week it is, so be prepared to wait a little while. It’s worth it!
