Calgary Stampede
- When – July 7th – 16th, 2017

The Calgary Stampede a.k.a. the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth attracts over 1 million visitors every year. Why’s that?
This annual festival held every July features one of the world’s largest rodeos, daily stage shows, agricultural competitions, rides and games, chuckwagon racing, a parade, historical exhibitions, unique foods, artisan vendors and much more.
With Canada turning 150 in 2017, you can bet that this year’s stampede will be special. On July 11th, enter the grounds for only $1.50 if you enter the park before 1:50pm!

Spruce Meadows North America
- When – July 5th – 9th, 2017
- Where – Spruce Meadows
- Cost – $5.00 to $30.00
The ‘North American’ is set to close out the Spruce Meadows Summer Series of tournaments with only the best of jumping horses and athletes from the Americas.
You’ll find a wide range of fun activities apart from watching the event itself including artisan shopping, wagon rides, pony rides, face painting and a slew of other ones that are family-friendly to the core.
Spruce Meadows is in the city’s southwest just outside of the community of Silverado and is easily reached via Highway 22x or by using Stoney / Macleod Trails.
Fiestaval Calgary
- When – July 21st – 23rd, 2017
- Where – Olympic Plaza
- Cost – Free
Fiestaval is a massive celebration of Latin American arts and culture that you don’t want to miss!
You’ll get to see live performances from several entertainers and musicians while scoping out the artisan shops scattered around Olympic Plaza, a beautiful park space in downtown Calgary – all for free!
Don’t forget to try some of the authentic Latin food from some of the food vendors for a full experience!
Calgary Folk Music Festival
- When – July 27th – 30th, 2017
- Where – Prince’s Island Park
- Cost – $25.00 and up
The Calgary Folk Music Festival is an award-winning festival held at Prince’s Island Park, one of downtown Calgary’s most beautiful and lush outdoor green spaces.
The annual event brings in over 70 different icons and upstarts from 16 different countries and sets them up on 8 different stages throughout its 3-day duration.
You’ll get a taste of all types of musical genres while weaving in and out of the artisan shops and food trucks stationed at the park, not to mention the beautiful natural scenery inherent to Prince's Island.
Cyclepalooza
- When – July 14th – 23rd, 2017
- Where – multiple venues
- Cost – varies
Cyclepalooza is a do-it-yourself, volunteer-directed, community-inspired bicycle event focusing on promoting arts, culture, events and pure fun in YYC.
This festival has events held 2 to 3 times a day for 10 days – one usually in the morning, around noon and evening – making it accessible and convenient no matter what your schedule may be like.
Some events include Lunch at The Ship, Beach Blanket Bingo Party and a Calgary Beer History Tour.
