Cadillac Fairview Plans Another Expansion for Chinook Centre in Calgary

Great news everyone! One of the best Calgary shopping malls is expanding once again. Preliminary plans are in motion for another expansion of Chinook Centre. Owner Cadillac Fairview is looking to add another one million square foot mixed use complex to the already massive southwest Calgary shopping centre.

Chinook Centre just recently completed an 180,000 square foot, $277 million dollar expansion back in September of 2012. Its prime location in the heart of the southwest along major city arteries like Macleod and Glenmore Trail make it one of the most visited shopping centres in the city.

Cadillac Fairview recognizes the fact that Chinook Centre's location makes it apt for another redevelopment project sooner or later. With a current overwhelming demand for space at the mall, any new commercial and retail space built would fill up with tenants very quickly.

Chinook Centre owes its success to the city it lives in. Calgary has become an economic strength of Canada. Its healthy economy has led to stronger business growth and consumer spending, creating demand for more places to shop. In fact, Chinook Centre has continued to be one of the top performing shopping centres in Canada, as well as North America. Cadillac Fairview expects it continue on this path of success with the new expansion, bringing a wider variety of consumer goods to the citizens of Calgary.

Cadillac Fairview is currently involved in another commercial development in the downtown Calgary core, immediately beside Eau Claire Market. The 36 story, 850,000 square foot high rise should be finished construction by summer time in 2015. Growth in the Western Canadian economy, specifically in Calgary, has made Cadillac Fairview confident in expanding their retail and office portfolio in the city.
