Calgary Activities at the Philharmonic Orchestra - Episode #23Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra

Are you ever left feeling like there is more to life than just catching a movie or watching TV? If so, the next time you’re planning a date or on getting out and seeing something new around the city, I highly recommend checking out the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra!

Whether you’re a local Calgarian or are from a faraway land, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s stellar performances are highly entertaining and impressive to say the least.

They have all types of cool shows including the last one I went to which was The Wizard of Oz, live in Concert, where they played the movie on a big screen while the orchestra did the movie music live - it was so cool!

This is just one of many examples where the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra takes live entertainment to a whole new level!

Other recent performances include:I love Calgary

Peking Acrobats: A gymnastic group who is renowned world-wide for their incredible feats of balance and flexibility, these shows include everything from trick-cycling and jugglers to contortionists and other incredible spectacles. – FEB 6th, 2016 @ 8:00pm

Romeo & Juliet & Rachmaninoff w/ Pavel Kolesnikov: Experience the 2012 Honens Prize Laureaute Pavel Kolesknikov’s own personal interpretation of Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (originally by Rachmaninoff), followed by an exciting performance of Bruch’s duo-concerto by Pavel and Samson Tsoy. Afterwards enjoy the Orchestra’s romantic performance of Romeo & Juliet (originally by Prokofiev). – FEB 12th, 13th, @ 8:00pm

Jonathan Biss Plays Beethoven: Biss is widely known for his mastery of Beethoven’s piano pieces, performing some of the legendary artists’ works live (Piano Concerto No. 2), which is then paired beautifully alongside Symphonic Dances (original by Rachamninoff).

The CPO performs out of the EPCOR CENTRE's Jack Singer concert Hall which according to the website has been described as one of the most beautiful and acoustically acclaimed venues in North America!

The CPO also has a really cool program called "cpossibilities" where anyone aged 15-29 can attend certain CPO events at a fraction of the normal cost. This program is designed to introduce a new generation of music lovers to live symphonic music.

This is something I highly recommend and encourage you to check out, experience something new! Call them anytime with questions or for tickets 403-571-0849 on the CPO Website today!
