    Calgary Stampede Centennial Activities

Calgary Stampede Photos Step right up and join the fun. This year’s Stampede will be the best one so far. Games, prizes, face painting and more. Mini-donuts and deep-fried treats galore!

2012 marks the 100th birthday for the Calgary Stampede ... a celebration of our rich history and culture. Volunteers have dedicated countless hours to prepare for this highly-anticipated event of the year. Our city will welcome visitors from across the city, country and the globe to commemorate the greatest outdoor show on earth. Here is a list of things to keep your eyes out for to mark a significant milestone in Calgary’s history:

    Centennial Memorabilia

For those seeking a special keepsake, Roots Canada stores and the Stampede store will be selling special limited edition merchandise including hats, jackets, totes, buckles and boots.

    Centennial Saddle

Own a piece of history by purchasing the last saddle only available at the Western Art Auction on July 12th. The custom-made handcrafted saddles designed by saddle maker Vic Bennett will definitely be a collector’s item for many years to come.

    Commemorative Stamps

Canada Post has issued two limited-edition stamps designed by local graphic artist Xerxes Irani. The images of a silver and gold belt bucket and rodeo horse will be on six million pieces of mail across North America. The digital stamp also marks the first time Augmented Reality will be used. Smartphone and tablet users can access interactive games by downloading a free App.

    Mid-Way Treats

Indulge your appetite with the newest deep-fried snacks: Kool-Aid, Wagon Wheel and pickle chips. For dessert, tempt yourself with red velvet or bacon sundae funnel cake.

    Mid-Way Rides

For the thrill seekers, fly over 900 feet across Stampede Park with the longest zip line in Canada. Or take a ride on Outlaw, the newest roller coaster.

    Calgary Beer

If you see a beer with a horseshoe and buffalo’s head on the label, it’s not your imagination ... that’s Calgary Beer. Molson Coors Canada stopped selling the beer more than two decades ago but they are shipping 20,000 cases for this special occasion.

    Stampede Phone App

Yes, there is a phone app! Download the official App to make the best out of your Stampede experience. Gather information, schedule events and activities, use the GPS-enabled map of Stampede Park and connect with friends on social media sites.
