Canada, the Most Positive Global Influence [Infographic]
According to a recent poll done by the United Kingdom’s second largest market research organization, Ipsos MORI, Canada is seen as the most positive influence in the world when it comes to foreign affairs.

The poll asked 18,000 people in 25 nations and found that an outstanding 81 percent of them saw Canada and its organizations had a strong and positive influence globally. This includes:
- 20 percent who thought Canada was strongly positive
- 61 percent who thought Canada was somewhat positive
- 19 percent who thought Canada had a negative effect
A year earlier in 2016, Canada was also found by survey participants to have an 81 percent positive rating in foreign affairs. See more worldwide rankings at Canada Facts & Infographics today.
Top 10 Most Positively Influential Countries of the World 2017
#1 – Canada – 81% positive influence
#2 – Australia – 79% positive influence
#3 – Germany – 67% positive influence
#4 – UN – 64% positive influence
#5 – France – 59% positive influence
#6 – EU – 57% positive influence
#7 – India – 53% positive influence
#8 – The World Bank – 51% positive influence
#9 – IMF – 49% positive influence
#10 – China – 49% positive influence
USA, France, Russia, U.N. Drop Big...
While respondents ranked Canada at the top, all other countries and organizations on the list experienced a decline compared to the 2016 survey, the most notable of which were:
- United States – 40% positive influence - -24 points
- France – 59% positive influence - -12 points
- Russia – 35% positive influence - -11 points
- United Nations – 64% positive influence - -9 points
‘A Dangerous World’
The Ipsos Global poll aims to identify who has the most influence on global affairs in this ever increasingly dangerous world. A substantial 85 percent of respondents in the 25 participating countries agree that the world has become a more dangerous place over the past year, including people from:
- Brazil – 95% agree - +14 points
- South Korea – 94% agree - +10 points
- Germany – 90% agree - +8 points
- Australia – 89% agree - +8 points
There were a few countries, however, that found the world to be less dangerous than it was in 2016, including:
- Russia – 78 percent agree - -7 points
- France – 81 percent agree - -6 points
- Hungary – 85 percent agree - -5 points
