I’ve driven past CHOP Steakhouse & Bar several times and have always wondered just how good their food is. What better way to kill my curiosity then dinner at CHOP and a movie at Chinook Mall on a Friday night?

    Atmosphere and Service

With no reservations it took us about 30 minutes to be seated in the lounge which left us a 60 minute window to finish our food before the start of the show. We mentioned it to our server and were surprised at how quickly our appetizers and main dishes came out considering how busy CHOP was at the time. They must have taken our rush order quite seriously!

After ordering I had an opportunity to appreciate the well-finished interior and lively atmosphere from my comfortable seat that was more like a lazy boy than a bar stool. It even swivelled.. sweet.

All in all, CHOP’s lounge set-up makes for a great place to do your thing whether that be eating, drinking, socializing, watching the game, or perhaps a little bit of each all at once.

Our OrdersMushroom Stuffed Ravioli CHOP Steakhouse & Bar

Fire Roasted Chicken Wings – $11.95 - hot wings served with blue cheese asiago dip - these wings were crispy on the outside and cook perfectly on the inside. Although a bit mild for hot wings, they were still enjoyable and a good way to start off the meal.

Chop Experience Prime Rib (medium)- $32.95 – includes starter Caesar or wedge salad or French onion soup or seafood chowder plus seasonal vegetables – served with your choice of mashed or baked potato - this succulent and juicy 12 ounce prime rib was worth every dollar. The meat itself was overwhelmingly flavourful and was complimented well by the herb and garlic mashed potatoes as well as the side order of asparagus. A must try at CHOP!

Roasted Mushroom Ravioli - $16.95 – Artisan Ravioli stuffed with roasted Portobello and Cremini mushrooms in a creamy white wine, sage and butter sauce, finished with asiago cheese – mushroom lovers should definitely take a gander at this dish. Topped with sliced tomatoes, mushrooms and asiago cheese, a variety of tastes and textures make it a great alternative to a more expensive meat dish.

If you haven’t tried CHOP Steakhouse & Bar just yet, you’ll definitely want to add it to your list of places to go. Why not do what I did and make a one two punch combo with dinner then a movie at Chinook, one of the best Calgary movie theatres there is?
