Co Do is an outstanding Vietnamese restaurant located on the Red Mile, also known as 17th Avenue SW. While Co Do may have some stiff competition as it is one of many pho restaurants in the area, it has managed to distinguish itself from the others through its unique take on the Asian cuisine and affordable prices.

During my latest visit I noticed that the restaurant had done some renovations. It’s always nice to see a restaurant put some effort into making the ambiance enjoyable for customers, but then and again, as a pho lover I go for the food of course.

Atmosphere and Service

Co Do’s interior is like your typical Vietnamese pho restaurant – nothing too special and pretty standard. The nice thing is that they do have comfortable seating and if you want, you can even grab a window seat directly on 17th Avenue SW and watch the hustle and bustle of the city while you eat.

As far as service goes, Co Do has had some of the best I have ever had at any pho restaurant. And I am not just talking about the last two or three times I’ve been because it has been on a consistent basis since the first time I visited a few years ago. I am pretty sure the owners of Co Do are actually serving you as well – you got to love family run restaurants!

Our Orders

Pho Bo Sate – $7.25 (medium) - spicy peanut rare beef sate soup with rice vermicelli noodles – one thing I liked about this dish was that I didn’t need to doctor it up with extra hot sauce because it came just perfect. For a medium, this bowl came with quite a large serving of noodles and a reasonable amount of beef. The broth was absolutely delish – a must try for pho sate lovers.

Shrimp Salad Rolls - $5.75 (3 rolls) – shrimp, rice vermicelli noodles, lettuce in a rice wrap – freshly made salad rolls are always delightful, especially when they come with thick peanut sauce. I am happy that Co Do is not one of the pho restaurants that waters down their salad roll sauce to save a buck!

All in all, Co Do is definitely one of the best Calgary pho restaurants there is and should not be missed for those who love Vietnamese cuisine and are looking to grab a bite for a very affordable price.
