GOGI Korean BBQ Calgary Restaurant Review
Located in an old building on the corner of 4th Street 23rd Avenue NW, GOGI Korean BBQ’s restaurant exterior is somewhat deceiving in the fact that it’s pretty run down and old looking. But inside is one Calgary hidden gem that you don’t want to miss.
Here’s the scoop on our first lunch dining experience at GOGI Korean BBQ. NOTE: We will be back for more!

Atmosphere & Service
Once inside you immediately notice the recently renovated, contemporary interior that doesn’t match the older exterior in any fashion.
There’s a variety of tables including a few 4-person booths as well as a large back area that can accommodate parties of 10 or more. We were sat at one of the comfy booths. On top of the tables are a gas stove for those who want to do some hot pot Korean-style.
Our server was happy to explain further in detail about menu items we asked about while also being on top of drink refills and our other customer needs / requests.
Upon leaving he also mentioned to us that they had just started an all-you-can-eat menu option for those looking to stuff their faces at a flat rate!
Our Food
Lunch Special C - $13.50 – Marinated beef barbecued with house sauce, served with rice, salad, a kimchi pancake, japche and potatoes.
For only $13.50, any of the lunch specials come with a bowl-sized serving of Korean rice, salad with vinaigrette dressing, two small kimchi pancakes and three side dishes that include tofu, potatoes, kimchi and spinach each covered in a different type of sauce.
The potatoes, for example, were drenched in a sweet and sticky topping that tasted like a mild maple syrup, while the tofu was covered in a spicy red sauce.
These side dishes not only give you a handful of different yummy things to eat, but also make sure that you end up with a full stomach. They also change up your taste pallette which makes for an exciting lunch every time.
The main course beef was juicy, lean and left a mild smoky taste in your mouth. Combined with the rice and lettuce, it was delightfully healthy and a very affordable lunch meal that I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick-and-easy lunch without sacrificing on nutrition quality.
