3 Top-Notch New Restaurants in the Kensington BRZ

There’s a lot going on in the Kensington Business Revitalization Zone as of late. Not only are a handful of new condominium developments on the rise, but also a bunch of restaurants have opened as well that have made a lasting impact on those that venture into their doors for food and drink – including me!

Burger 320

There’s a good reason why Burger 320 in Bridgeland made our list of Best Calgary Burgers. Now those heading to Kensington for a bite to eat will be able to indulge in one of their gourmet burgers created using only the freshest of locally produced ingredients with an Italian twist.

All buns and even the burger meat are house-made so that every meal they make is the best it can be. I highly recommend the “Molise”: grilled portabella mushroom, truffle salsa, garlic aioli, arugula and tomato candy on top of a fresh French brie bun. Delicious!

Ikemen Ramen Noodle Bar

Last spring Kensington was blessed with yet another outstanding Japanese ramen noodle house. Called Ikemen Ramen Bar, you won’t be disappointed with these well-priced and well-made bowls that are filling to say the least.

I highly recommend trying the mushroom ramen with a bit of chili spice in the broth. Don’t get me wrong, the basic miso broth is delicious and not too sweet to taste, but I find that the extra spice adds a little bit of kick and combines well with the two types of mushrooms that come with.

Oh, and don’t forget to add some chicken or pork chasu slices on top – they make this custom order one of my favourite ramen bowls in town!

Vendome Café

After what seemed like an eternity spent under renovation, Vendome Café has finally reopened its doors! Now we all can once more indulge in its scrumptious French-inspired foods and long list of hot drinks like coffee, tea and even ciders.

I highly recommend trying their weekend brunch or any one of their rich coffees, my personal favourite being the americano. I know you won’t be disappointed!

Vendome Café is also tucked away behind all the rush of the main Kensington strip which makes it a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. No wonder it’s on our list of 7 Must Try Restaurants in the Hillhurst area.
