3 Calgary Holiday Activities You Won't Want to Miss...

Seasons Greetings Holidays Graphic CalgaryismWhoever said Christmas is the season to be jolly was absolutely, positively, 100 percent correct! One great way to enjoy the holiday season to the fullest is to partake in exciting activities and events happening around town. Having said that, here are three of the best Calgary holiday activities / events for Christmas 2013!

    Zoo Lights – Calgary Zoo

    Calgary Zoo Lights 2013

The lights at the Calgary Zoo have long been one of the most popular Christmas events in the city and for good reason.

After all, there are more than 1.5 million reasons to go see the Calgary Zoo Lights this year – 1.5 million lights that is, that are sparkling throughout the night for you and company to see!

Be amazed as you traverse in and out of spectacular light displays depicting everything from Santa Claus and snowman to rein deer and other seasonal settings. Along the way, take a few minutes rest at any one of the fire pits, or perhaps take the kids to the kids play zone and let them burn off some extra steam.

Also, know that you’re doing your part to help the Calgary Zoo out after the floods in late June of 2013 that left the world-class facility shutdown for months. Why not support the zoo, and have some fun too!?

Calgary Landmarks Canada Olympic Park Ski JumpsCanada Olympic Park

Sometimes you just don’t have time to get to the mountains for a full day of skiing. Why not skip the hour to two hour drive out to your favourite ski resort, and check out Canada Olympic Park’s ski hill for a change?

Not only is Canada Olympic Park’s ski hill plenty of fun, but it is also conveniently located on the west side of town along the Trans Canada Highway, less than a half hour from the furthest reaches of our sprawling city.

Going to C.O.P. is a great way to connect with your family, friends and maybe those who you don’t know just yet. The ski hill has two full size lifts, as well as a t-bar that leads up to the top of the snowboard alley / trick park. Check it out!

Once Upon a Christmas – Heritage Park

Heritage Park Historical Village Calgary Once Upon a Christmas Voucher

Christmas celebrations used to be A LOT different than they are today. For the settlers of old, those who laid down the foundations of western Canadian civilization, there were no motor vehicles, HD televisions, or smart phones. How did they celebrate Christmas?... the good ol’fashioned way, of course.

Some would argue that the old fashioned way is the best way to celebrate Christmas, as people have the opportunity to focus on the event at hand, instead of being distracted by the technology of today.

Once Upon a Christmas at Heritage Park brings you back into the past, to a time when sleigh rides and Christmas carols were more popular events, and shows you just how fun these old-fashioned activities can be.

For more information on prices, hours of operation and more, be sure to check out Once Upon a Christmas at Heritage Park today.
