I am always delighted to find another quality Vietnamese pho restaurant in Calgary, especially when it’s in suburban areas where I don’t dine all the time and can keep in mind for the next time I’m hungry and close by.

My friend had mentioned that he usually goes to this great Vietnamese place just around the corner from where we were at called Pho Anh.

Needless to say, his judgement was right on point as this place and its cuisine did more than well to curb my hunger on this beautiful spring evening.

Atmosphere & Service

Inside of Pho Anh you’ll find a clean and contemporary atmosphere with several booth tables and a few HDTV’s to keep your attention. The bathrooms were also renovated and clean – always a nice when eating out, period.

We sat at one of the booths and found it to be very spacious and comfortable even with four people at the table. Two of the seats had direct sight of the HDTV broadcasting an NHL playoff game which was pretty sweet.

The service was also good. Our drinks were always topped off, food came out pretty quickly and the waiter was back and forth making sure we had everything we needed. Hats off to you Pho Anh!

Our Orders

Shrimp salad rolls (3) - $5.95 – rice vermicelli, cilantro, carrots, shrimp in a rice wrap, served with sweet peanut sauce dip

You can tell that Pho Anh makes their salad rolls from scratch and are made-to-order because of their fresh taste. They also had some size to them which is great for people like me with a HUGE appetite.

I find that salad rolls are always a healthy way to appease your appetite before the main entrée.

Peanut sate beef pho - $10.95 – special house peanut sate broth, rice vermicelli, beef strips, onion, cilantro, served with beansprouts and lime

I am a complete sucker for peanut sate soups wherever I go because I find that the broth tastes different at every pho restaurant that has it. Pho Anh’s take on the dish hit the spot with its sweet but not overbearing peanut taste mixed in with a medium spiciness from the sate. The beef was also very lean and delicious.

If you love hot soups, peanut broths or simply want to try something completely different, this peanut sate beef soup is for you.

The next time you’re in the Crowfoot area and craving pho, I highly recommend that you put your trust into Pho Anh. This place is amazing!
