Lo and behold, the famous oyster house from Toronto has finally made its way to YYC, taking up residence in the old Mansion Nightclub building at on the corner of 4th Street and 10th Avenue SW.

Now we Calgarians can enjoy the spoils of the sea at Rodney’s Oyster House, one of the best in the business when it comes to fresh seafood meals that will keep you coming back for more, again and again.

Atmosphere & Service

One thing I appreciate as a customer is when restaurant staff takes their time to show that they care. My first visit to Rodney’s, we had Rodney himself come to our table and explain a few things about the restaurant and its food, which was quite a warming experience.

To add to the classy reception, our server did a great job at explaining menu items we had never seen before as it was our first visit to any Rodney’s Oyster House. He was also quick to fill up our drinks, take our orders and bring out the food.

Traditional Shrimp Cocktail - $21.00 – shrimps and cocktail sauce

This simple dish is a great way to start off your night of dining at Rodney’s. Served on ice, these rather large shrimps tasted like they were just plucked from the ocean the same day. Sprinkle lemon juice, dip into the tomato based cocktail sauce and you are good to go.

Oysters – on ice, served with sauce basket

Douse these fresh, already shucked oysters up with sauce of your choice from the basket and enjoy. I personally like the shallot vinaigrette, it creates a nice contrast of taste between sweet and oyster. These are honestly some of the freshest and juiciest tasting oysters I’ve had in Calgary – must try’s if you are in for a meal at Rodney’s!
