Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta
- What is the Ronald McDonald House? -
Ronald McDonald House provides a temporary residence for families travelling to Calgary with sick children seeking medical attention. Established in 1985, Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta has grown and changed dramatically but their main purpose remains the same; to help families not from Calgary to remain together in a comfortable setting while the children go through tough, often frightening medical treatment.
- Where is the Ronald McDonald House? -
Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta’s current facility can home up to 23 families and is found adjacent to the new Alberta Children’s Hospital found off Shaganappi Trail NW. Each suite has its own private bathroom and bedrooms while kitchens are a common area. Occupancy of the suites are not always based on financial need, but Ronald McDonald House makes sure to keep the nightly cost at a very low rate to make it more than affordable for families looking to stay close as they can to their ill family member(s).
Since its opening in 1985, Southern Alberta’s division of RMH has accompanied the needs of more than 18,000 families. Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization with 14 houses in total across Canada, and over 300 worldwide!
Keeping sick children close to their families is essential for bettering their health. Keep doing what you do Ronald McDonald House! Without you doing what you do, it would be more difficult for children and their families to stay close in times of dire need.
