Saigon Y2K Chinatown Calgary Restaurant Review

Saigon Y2K Chinatown

Located in Chinatown in downtown Calgary on centre street, Saigon Y2K is a Vietnamese pho restaurant convenient to stop in at for lunch if you happen to be walking in the area. The only downside to eating here is the parking factor so if you choose to stop in for eats plan on paying hefty downtown parking fees.

The interior of the restaurant is a little run down but is typical for your average Vietnamese pho restaurant in Calgary. Upon a glance, I decided on two prawn salad rolls for $3.50 and a bowl of Pho Satay for $10.50.

After a few moments my salad rolls were brought to my table along with my green tea and ice water. Usually when salad rolls are brought out immediately they aren’t freshly made. They tasted good enough to eat but were definitely made an hour or two beforehand. A good thing about them is they are large and filling and for another $3.75 you can get two more prawn salad rolls to do your hunger justice.

Pho satay was delightful! A mix of special house soup with rice vermicelli noodles and lean strips of beef. The soup was a little bit spicy and had a yummy sweetness to it as well. My usual method of eating any kind of Vietnamese pho is to add extra hot and sweet sauces. Not this time. The taste was just right and I will definitely return to Saigon Y2K Chinatown in the future.

On top of good food, the service was absolutely amazing! Often when I go to restaurants, I repeatedly have to ask for water refills. At Saigon Y2K Chinatown my server was on top of things and had my glass refilled almost immediately after it was empty.
