Six New Calgary Restaurants Coming Soon That Will Knock Your Socks Off...

Calgary’s food culture is getting bigger and more spectacular as the years go on. With so many great food establishments found all throughout Calgary, especially in the downtown and inner city, it isn’t hard to get excited about eating out because you definitely get some bang for your buck.

Having said that, prepare your taste buds for even more unique, scrumptious, savoury foods to hit our city streets in the near future. Here are six new Calgary restaurants coming soon that any food lover will appreciate.

Charbar

• 618 Confluence Way SE

The Simmons Building in East Village will soon be home to Charbar, a new restaurant and eatery by Phil and Sebastian Roasters, Sidewalk Citizen Bakery, and the chefs behind Charcut Roast House.

Who knows what magical concoctions of food will be made at Charbar once all three tenants have set up shop and are ready to open by spring of 2015. All I know that is if it is anything like what they have already produced in Calgary, then this food hub will be something to look out for.

Double Zero Chinook

• 6455 Macleod Trail SW

Double Zero Pizza is expanding with a new location coming soon to Chinook Mall. Those who have been to Double Zero’s downtown location already know that this is good news as the restaurant serves up some of the best pizza in Calgary plus a wide selection of tapas, pastas, beers and wines.

Keep an eye open for the new location – Double Zero Pizza at Chinook will be on the northeast side of the mall in a two-storey space with a market-style main floor and traditional restaurant / patio upstairs. I can definitely see myself enjoying some fine food at Double Zero Chinook in between some shopping and an IMAX flick.

Goro & Gun

• 225 7th Avenue SW

Stephen Avenue will soon be home to another restaurant called Goro & Gun. If this restaurants food is as unique as its name, then surely we have much to look forward to!

Expect to see some of the best of both Asian and American cuisines all smashed into one fantastic menu that will make the foodies in Calgary crave for more. I’ll be checking this spot out as soon as it opens!

National West Hills

• 180 Steward Green SW

National Beer Hall already has two outstanding locations in Calgary, one on the Red Mile or 17th Avenue SW if you will and on 10th Avenue SW, the latter of which has bowling lanes and a unique bourbon room with over 40 kinds of whiskey to choose from. You know what they say – there’s no bad whiskey, some are just better than others.

Now, National is opening a third location at West Hills Shopping Centre in the southwest. Expect to see the same great food, drinks, and social atmosphere the franchise is known for. After all, it is one of the best Calgary beer halls there is.

Native Tongues Taqueira

• 239 12th Avenue SW

Tacos, bourbon and hip-hop are the three words used to describe Native Tongues Taqueira, a new food establishment coming soon to the beltline community of Connaught.

The creators of Taco Or No Taco are bringing to you another place where you can get all the gourmet tacos, tasty bourbon and Mexican style wrestling for entertainment you want. This combination makes for quite the interesting dinner event to say the least.

Rodney’s Oyster House

• 355 10th Avenue SW

Sea food lovers beware, one of Toronto’s highly reputed oyster restaurants is coming soon to Calgary. Rodney’s Oyster House has acquired the former nightclub on 10th Avenue and 4th Street SW that has previously gone by the names of Mansion, Tantra and the Drink.

When finished, the restaurant will have 300 seats, an oyster bar, private dining rooms and catering services. Expect to see gourmet lobster, crab, scallop and fish entrees to go with those lovely oysters.
