Van Son Vietnamese Cuisine Calgary Restaurant Review
Van Son is one pho restaurant along 16th Avenue NW that is worth stopping in at.
With one of the more up-to-date interiors out of all the pho restaurants I have been to as of late, it has a warming eating atmosphere perfect for indulging in all your favourite Vietnamese cuisines.

Atmosphere and Service
Inside of Van Son you'll find a warming beige / white / brown colour palette, comfy booths and a spacious seating arrangement. As with most pho restaurants in Calgary, you'll also see a bunch of cultural decorations that adds a nice touch to the overall ambiance.
Service, on the other hand, was quite good... we didn't have to ask for our water glasses to be filled and used dishes were quickly removed from the table top.
Our Orders
Shrimp Salad Rolls - $6.95 – rice vermicelli, shrimp, sliced carrots, mint leaf in rice wrap, served with dipping sauce
Van Son’s shrimp salad rolls were stuffed to the max with mint leaves which packed a delicious fresh and "leafy" taste into every bite. Salad roll lovers will appreciate these!
Pho Sate Beef - $9.50 - house special spicy sate soup, beef strips, rice vermicelli, onions
Don't be fooled by this somewhat regular looking bowl of pho sate. Although its broth looks rather clear for a spicy soup, it packs a hot bite that will keep you reaching for your drink. However, it isn't too spicy and makes for a great delicious bowl of pho!
Fresh Coconut Juice - $5.00
Fresh slices of coconut served in an ice cold glass of coconut juice. There isn’t anything better to wash some yummy pho down than with this refreshing drink that also does a good job of cancelling the spice of the sate soup on the tip of your tongue.
All in all, Van Son serves up some of the best Vietnamese soups and appetizers I have had in Calgary’s northwest inner city. I recommend checking it out the next time you got a craving for that irresistible cuisine many of us love called pho!
