White Elephant Calgary Restaurant Review
Where do I start, other than the fact that I was left speechless when I took that first bite at White Elephant?
This is a must-visit restaurant for those who have a taste for and appreciate authentic Thai cuisine at its best.

Atmosphere and Service
When we first pulled up into the hotel parking lot, I wasn’t too sure where to go. My friend explained that we had to enter through the hotel to get to the restaurant so we did.
I did find the location of White Elephant a bit odd considering that you can’t access it directly without going through the hotel. However, this is really no big deal relative to just how absolutely delicious the food is.
An up-side to the location is that tables aren’t crammed together as you see in other smaller restaurants which was nice; not a big fan of feeling cramped when I eat.
Apart from the location, the service was decent but lacked to check on our table as much as I would have liked. Maybe I am just a needy foodie?
Not sure... but let’s talk about what made this restaurant shine above all other Thai restaurants I have been to in Calgary.
Our Food
Yellow Thai Curry (beef) - $16.00 – red and green chili, beef in coconut milk with lime leaves and golden potato – this yellow curry is a must-order for smothering your order of rice in its sweet sauce, accompanied by beef slices and melt-in-your-mouth potatoes that are the highlight of this dish.
Tom Ka Koong - $15.50 – shrimp, coconut milk, onion, carrot, tomato, lemongrass, kaffe, limes leaves, galangal, mushrooms with house made spices – one of my favourite Thai soups that has a perfect blend between sweet coconut and spiciness broth accompanied by sliced carrots and juicy shrimp.
Pad Thai (beef) – $14.00 - rice noodle, bean sprouts, tofu, chive, onion, egg, and special pad Thai sauce – the best pad Thai I have ever eaten, ever. A settle peanut flavour mixed in with perfectly cooked rice noodles, beef and tofu make this dish my favourite of them all.
Coconut Rice - $4.00 – top with your favourite dishes or eat on its own, this coconut rice is yummy!
I highly recommend checking out White Elephant. Don’t miss out any longer on this place – it truly is foodie heaven!
