Established in 1998, Garrison Woods is a southwest inner city community in Calgary where you will find a variety of Toronto-style infills and other home styles with European-like streetscapes.

This inner city real estate community is surrounded by an abundance of amenities and services, especially concentrated in the neighbouring Marda Loop business district, while Crowchild Trail and 33rd Avenue SW provide connectivity to downtown which is less than 5 kilometres away.

Garrison Woods Amenities and Services

Garrison Woods has an ample amount of amenities and services needed for extended comfort readily accessible in neighbouring communities. These areas are so close it makes walking an option during warmer seasons!

On the north end of Garrison Woods you will find Marda Loop, a well known business district in Calgary’s inner city with over 100 businesses in operation. This area is renowned for its small, one-of-a-kind businesses, which know customers on a personal basis and provide them with exceeding levels of service.

Another exciting aspect of Garrison Woods is the fact that it is directly west of Mount Royal University. MRU has recently upgraded itself from college status and are constantly upgrading their faculties and educational programs to accommodate more and more students.

On top of these two exciting characteristics, Currie Barracks is developing their own European style retail and commercial district. You might find yourself having to choose between a few different shops simply because there are so many! Crowchild Trail, 33rd Avenue SW, 14th Street SW and Glenmore Trail are a few of the routes immediately available to residents. Calgary’s Military Museums are also located within the community (a Top 5 Best Calgary Museum!)

Garrison Woods Schools

Garrison Woods has the same school designation as its neighbour, Altadore. Elementary designation is to Altadore Elementary. Junior high designation is to Mount Royal, while Central Memorial High is for high school students.

Garrison Woods isn’t that big of a community when compared to others. That must be the reason why the City of Calgary has decided to merge their census information for Altadore and Garrison Woods into one set. Public Transportation

Garrison Woods has tons of Calgary Transit stops in and around the community. Some of the stops available include Mount Royal University North, Circle Routes, Mount Royal, Sarcee Road, Richmond Road, Calgary South, Killarney and 26th Avenue, Elbow Drive and Sandstone. Downtown’s LRT terminals are easily reached via bus routes.
