Calgary Transit has launched a convenient new text messaging service that notifies transit users what time their next bus is due via text. Finally! This is a cool service that is free of charge, all you pay for is your standard text messaging rates with your cell company.

The program works by sending a text message with the four digit bus stop number to 74000. After doing so the next bus time for the stop specified will be sent back to you via text. Now there are two different options to find out when your next bus is coming. The TeleText service is definitely more of a convenient way to do so without using up phone minutes when checking through the automated phone method.

A similar program might be in store for LRT times in the near future. These are some cool new programs being implemented by Calgary Transit! With the new buses, C-Trains, 7th Avenue corridor redevelopment, 4 car stations, west LRT and now this, I sure would say Calgary Transit is doing a great job and bringing Calgarians new and exciting services.
