Redwater Rustic Grille Macleod Trail Calgary Restaurant Review

You may have driven past this outstanding restaurant on Macleod Trail countless times, not knowing just how good (and gluten-free) their food is. Or maybe you’re like my friend who is an avid customer of the Redwater Rustic Grille who insisted we stop in because I haven’t been just yet.

I then realized why my friend goes to this place, one of the best Calgary gluten-free restaurants there is at least once a week after I took a few bites of our appetizers….

Atmosphere and Service

Redwater Rustic Grille has one of the most soothing and comfortable restaurant atmospheres I have been in as of late.

Between the beautiful woodwork, comfortable seats and dim lighting, it is hard not to feel like you are ready to dine.

And the service was exemplary, also some of the best I have received as of late at any restaurant in Calgary.

It could have been the fact that we were there on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t too busy, but regardless, I have to give my server the benefit of the doubt because she did such an awesome job. Now onto the good part… the food!

Our Orders

Stuffed mushrooms - $13.95 – prawn, crab, red pepper cream, arugula, honey truffle vinaigrette – mushroom lovers, prepare to fall in love with this succulent appetizer. Hints of prawn and crab compliment the mushroom well as it all melts in your mouth.

Chicken pappardelle - $18.95 – spinach, mushroom, roasted pepper, pea, scallion – as the name suggests, this pasta dish is topped with a chicken breast that was grilled to perfection and retained its juicy chicken flavour. A must-try for pasta lovers!

Stone baked flat bread prosciutto & callabrese (gluten free crust for additional $2)- $13.95 – parmesan cream, artichoke, roasted red pepper, onion, kalamata olive, green onion, shaved grana padano – this gourmet flatbread, or pizza if you will, had a unique combination of ingredients that made me want another slice again and again. Pizza lovers you got to check this flatbread out!

This is one of those restaurants you want to take your loved ones to because it is simply that good! Don’t miss it the next time you’re out and about looking for a place to eat on Macleod Trail S.
