Benefits of Luxury Home Living: Why Buy Luxury?
We can all imagine what the benefits are of owning something luxurious. If you own a high-end phone, for example, chances are it looks / functions better than the others. When it comes to luxury homes, this analogy stands.
The benefits of luxury homes alluring to say the least. So, if you're asking what the benefits are of luxury homes, here's three that almost always go hand-in-hand with buying such a property.
#1 - Luxurious home features
We all know that luxury homes are defined by their features. So, what exactly would be categorized as "luxurious?" Here's a few:
- Large square footage
- Large, open-concept living spaces
- High-end construction materials, appliances and fixtures
- Custom architecture and interior design
- Open entrance way with centre-piece chandelier
- Spa-like features in master suite and bathrooms
- Latest electronic gadgets and control systems
- All-inclusive security system
- Walk-in wine cabinet
- Movie theatre
- Indoor or outdoor swimming pool
- Sport courts
- Large backyard
- Gated property
- Walled property
Many luxury homes are custom-built, meaning there could be an elevator garage in the driveway or perhaps a hydraulic lift to fit more sports cars inside. It might be an indoor swimming pool complete with slides, or an ultra-luxurious chefs kitchen with space to entertain.
As a luxury home buyer, chances are you know what you want out of your next purchase. Having the opportunity to pick and choose home features that contour to yours and your family's lifestyle is a huge benefit to luxury home living.
#2 - All-inclusive community features
Many new luxury community developments are built on the outskirts of the urban areas, or just outside the city borders to allow for an all-inclusive master plan without any spacial limitations on development.
In many instances, these homes and their respective communities exemplify luxury living to the max. Often, you'll see things such as:
- Central amenity area
- Public outdoor barbecue stove and pit
- Verandahs and picnic tables
- Body of water for swimming and other water activities
- Beautifully landscaped public areas
- Interconnected pathways and abundant green spaces
- Full-time maintenance staff and 24/7 concierge and / or security staff
- One entrance and gated / walled borders with security system
Luxury homes found in an inner city location might not have access to a private lake. However, what they lack in "luxury" from a new developmental view point they make up for in being able to live a walkable lifestyle with quick access to downtown and amenities.
It's up to you, the buyer, to choose what aspects of the location of your luxury home are important to you. Is it a quiet, rural acreage with lots of space for outdoor activities? Or perhaps a downtown condominium where getting to work in the morning takes just a few minutes of walking?
#3 - Exceptional location
Almost always, luxury homes and communities are defined by an amazing location which could include any one or a combination of the following:
Suburb & Rural Estates
Estate-sized properties found in the suburbs or just outside of the city, like those in the award-winning luxury community Watermark at Bearspaw.
These properties offer spacious living amid serene settings with very little or no neighbours whatsoever. They are the ultimate example when it comes to private luxury living away from the city's hustle and bustle.
Inner City Infills
Exclusive inner city living only minutes from downtown, just like that in Mount Royal, provides quick-and-easy access to downtown and amenities.
With limited opportunities to buy, inner city real estate is as exclusive as it gets and in many instances showcases the best of the best from a variety of different custom home builders.
Close to Amenities
Many luxury communities have convenient access to amenities. In Calgary, such is true for inner city areas that are close to schools, parks, pathways and the rivers. The same goes for million dollar condos in the city centre.
Business Improvement Areas and Revitalization Zones like Kensington and Marda Loop make a fully-fledged, walkable lifestyle possible in some inner city neighbourhoods like Hillhurst, Sunnyside and Altadore.
Serene Ambiance
Peace and quiet is something many luxury buyers look for in their next home. Homes with mountain views or ocean front can provide incredible privacy, something which usually is accompanied by a serene ambiance.
Quieter-than-usual streetscapes is a characteristic shared by the luxury neighbourhood of Roxboro and many other upscale areas.
Golf Course
A golf course is almost always indicative of a luxury community. Membership fees for residents are usually steep, but come with a ton of perks including having an exclusive social club to have fun with others with similar lifestyles.
A few examples in Calgary include Hamptons, Bearspaw and Heritage Point. There's also the the Calgary Golf and Country Club bordering the highly desirable luxury community of Bel-Aire.
Spectacular Views
If there's any definitive feature of a home's location that makes it luxury, it's the views. For example, a million-dollar condo in downtown may have views of the river valley and mountains to the west. A rural home in Elbow Valley West might see the foothills clearly while also having a much more panoramic view of the Rockies compared to the downtown condo.
Views of the mountains, rolling foothills, ravines and everything in between are of the norm for luxury homes in Aspen Woods, a well-established upscale community in the southwest.
