Top 5 Suburban Breakfast Restaurants in CalgaryYour Source Best in Calgary Alberta

Most people think downtown or inner city when it comes to good breakfast restaurants that will leave both you and your tummy smiling on the way out.

But there are a handful of outstanding suburban breakfast restaurants in Calgary that will also do the same trick. Here they are…

Ace Coffee & Dinerace coffee and diner sw calgary breakfast restaurants

    • Address – 8244 9th Avenue SW
    • Phone Number – 403-475-1788

Ace is a go-to spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch in Calgary’s suburban westside area, and for good reason.

Inside you’ll find a light, cozy eating atmosphere with a café-style front where you can walk-in and order pastries, drinks and other breakfast items. This is a great feature for people looking to grab something quick in the mornings and go.

I loved my salmon eggs benedict with added mushrooms. The thinly sliced salmon was layered thick and rich in flavour while the baby potatoes were grilled perfectly and seasoned with just the right amount of herbs. Also see these Best Breakfast Restaurants in SW Calgary.

Eggs & MoreI love Calgary YYC 5

    • Address – 5441 Falsbridge Dr. NE
    • Phone Number – 403-280-9488

Just like Ace Coffee & Diner, Eggs & More is also a go-to spot for breakfast but for those in the northeast and east suburban sectors of the city.

Inside is a rather large seating area – a good thing considering its popularity – plus you’ll get a very reasonable serving size for the price which is something that any hungry breakfast lover can appreciate.

I suggest trying the classic eggs benny with your choice of side; I personally chose perogies which ended up being a nice mix-up of tastes between the benny and roasted potatoes.

The Bro’Kin YolkBroken Yolk breakfast brunch lunch restaurant nw calgary

    • Address – #130 – 12580 Symons Valley Rd. NW
    • Phone Number – 587-317-5743

Found in the deep northwest, The Bro'Kin Yolk is reminiscent of one of those popular inner city breakfast diners you’ll find that have line-ups around the corner on weekends – it’s just that good!

Inside is a very homey space with a handful of 6 to 8-person booths as well as bar seats along the perimeter of the open kitchen.

If you love breakfast poutines I’d try the truffle, ham & wild mushroom mixed in with duck fat hash browns, cheese curds and 2 soft poached eggs topped by a savoury roasted garlic hollandaise sauce.

All these flavours mesh seamlessly to create a breakfast meal that will leave your taste buds smiling from ear-to-ear. Also see these Best Breakfast Restaurants in NW Calgary.

    Patisserie Du SoleilI love YYC

    • Address – 2525 Woodview Dr. SW
    • Phone Number – 403-452-8833

Found in the far deep southwest in Woodbine is this little hidden gem offering up scrumptious home-made French pastries and breakfast delights.

It also may be one of the most affordable suburban breakfast restaurants in Calgary with selections ranging between $6.00 and $11.00.

I recommend Nick’s Scrambled Eggs served with sausages, hash browns, sweet peppers, caramelized shallots, cheddar cheese and your choice of toast. There are also several delicious pastries that make for a good grab-and-go morning snack.

Starbelly Open Kitchen & LoungeStarbelly best suburban restaurant Calgary

    • Address – #220 - 19489 Seton Cr. SE
    • Phone Number – 403-570-0133

This suburban restaurant is a favourite for many residents of the deep southeast living in communities such as Auburn Bay, Mahogany and McKenzie Towne. I even frequent its doors and live nowhere close.

Maybe that’s because Starbelly’s menu is made from scratch wherever possible using locally seasoned ingredients while inside you’ll find a contemporary and comfortable eating atmosphere great for parties of all sizes.

I highly recommend trying the wild boar gnocchi: confit boar shoulder, red pepper, tomato ragu (sauce), local vegetables, pickled apples and Manchego (a Spanish cheese). This dish is one of my favourite gnocchi’s I’ve ever had in Calgary!
