Calgary Condominium Market
Calgary condos for sale come in all shapes and sizes. From suburban one-bedroom units in the high $100s to downtown luxury units of well over $1 million, buyers from all walks of life can find an apartment in Calgary that suits their wants and needs.
The general rule of thumb (as for most cities) is that the closer you get to the city centre, the more expensive a condominium will be per square foot. But today, the dynamic residential market provides spectacular offers on Calgary condos in premium downtown and inner-city locations.
Apartments for sale in certain areas of the city are also more affordable. The Northeast, East and Southeast districts tend to have the best prices per square foot, although some exceptions exist.

History of Condominium Law in Alberta
Alberta was the first province in Canada to pass Condominium legislation. The legislature passed the Condominium Property Act of Alberta on August 1st, 1966, and the Condominium Property Act amendment Act in May 1996, which came into effect on September 1st, 2000.
This major amendment included several updated provisions, including self-policing, increased disclosure obligations, mandatory reserve fund requirements, increased buyer protection, greater board power, and additional dispute resolution options!
It is important to know what the Condominium Property Act is because it sets the guidelines for how Condominiums can be sold, managed and the disclosure information that must be available for buyers.
