Construction Begins on the TransCanada & Sarcee Tr. Overpass
While the spring and summer months bring about some of the best weather and activities that YYC has all year, it also means that construction companies are out in full force working on roads and overpasses that result in delays for Calgary drivers.
With that in mind, construction on the TransCanada Highway & Sarcee interchange is now underway.
During the first few phases of construction traffic is expected to not be delayed and there will be no reductions on the speed limit, although drivers are asked to take precaution and keep an eye out for construction vehicles moving in and out of the zoned area.
Current construction on the interchange is taking place off of the main throughways of the TransCanada Highway and Sarcee Trail.
CLOSURES & DETOURS
Starting on April 21st, 2016, the Wilson Gardens exit to southbound Sarcee Trail will be closed off for the duration of the interchanges construction.
Starting on May 1st, 2016, there will be a small shift of the pavement heading northbound to eastbound ramp to allow construction to begin on the east bridge. The speed limit on the ramp will be set at 30 kilometres per hour and construction zone speeding fines will apply.
Most of the construction to be performed will be done on existing roadways. That way the need for complete road closures or major detours will be minimized.
However, short lane closures, small detours will be necessary while completing the ramp connections, bridge improvements and other project features.
